Setup a default email program in Windows XP

To set up a default email program in Windows XP:

  • Press Windows Logo key + R. This opens the "Run" command.
  • Type appwiz.cpl , click OK. This opens "Add or Remove Programs."
  • In the left column, click Set Program Access and Defaults.
  • Select Custom.
  • Under "Choose a default e-mail program," click on your preferred email program,  such as Microsoft Outlook, Yahoo Mail, or Outlook Express.
  • Click OK.
